Senior Practitioner – Family Support

Ambassadors Resourcing is looking to recruit on behalf of North-East Birmingham Family Hub. They are looking for an experienced long-term, temporary Lead Practitioner for Family Support in Birmingham’s Family Hubs.  The successful candidate will spearhead a multifaceted approach to community empowerment. Job Description

  • The successful Lead Practitioner will:
  • Lead and manage the Family Practitioner – Family Support team within the allocated district to provide targeted support to vulnerable and complex families 0-5 within the 0-19 model, with flexibility for 5-19 and a “whole family approach” which includes on-going and sustained development of Family Hubs.   • Manage and deliver quality safeguarding practice, ensuring that the service operates within the procedures for the relevant Local Safeguarding Children Board and Spurgeons’ policies and procedures, consistently applying Spurgeons safeguarding reporting, monitoring and audit processes

Requirements

  • The successful Lead Practitioner must have:
  • NVQ 3 in Childcare, Health, Social Care with experience of managing complex

          casework to tier 3 and 4

  • Development in your professional field and its relevance to the post’s              requirements
  • Leadership experience in managing teams, providing guidance, supervision and

          support

  • Evidence of professional experience of quality engagement in early intervention

          family support with vulnerable families

  • Experience of initial assessments, home visits & group sessions facilitation
  • Experience in running family support programmes and parenting courses
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of family support and parenting programmes

  • Work closely with other practitioners within Family Hubs, Children’s Centres and outreach venues to meet the holistic needs of families. To facilitate a variety of parenting programmes within Family Hubs, Children’s Centres and outreach venues

  • Provide specific activities parents can use in the home to develop their child’s speech and language skills and undertake home visits where necessary.
  • Support parents who have under 5s with SEND needs ensuring inclusive practice and signposting to additional specialist support as required.

  • Communicate key messages to pregnant and new parents in relation to attachment and bonding with their baby, providing support in a clear and empathetic manner

Requirements

  • The successful Level 3 Family Practitioner must have:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education or the equivalent
  • Experience of developing positive relationships with children under 5 and their parents/carers enabling them to participate in the play/activity session
  • Experience of setting up enabling environments
  • Experience of collating and maintaining monitoring information
  • Experience of undertaking outreach work within the community
